Origin

High in the Andes of northern and central Peru, in the remote highland departments of Cajamarca, San Martín, and Puno, smallholder farmers cultivate some of South America's most underappreciated specialty coffee. At elevations between 1,500 and 2,200 meters — rivaling the highest growing regions of Ethiopia and Colombia — Peru's Andean farms benefit from rich cloud-forest soil, abundant rainfall, and the dramatic diurnal temperature swings that slow cherry development and concentrate natural sugars in the bean. The result is a coffee of genuine complexity and natural sweetness that, for decades, was undervalued simply because Peru lacked the marketing infrastructure of its more famous neighbors.

That has changed. A new generation of cooperatives and smallholder collectives — many certified organic and fair trade — has brought Peruvian coffee to the attention of specialty buyers worldwide, and the quality speaks for itself. Most farms are tiny by global standards, rarely exceeding five hectares, and are worked by indigenous Andean families using traditional practices that have sustained these highland ecosystems for generations. Coffee is Peru's most important agricultural export, and the pride that Peruvian producers take in their crop is evident in every carefully hand-picked, meticulously sorted lot that reaches the specialty market.

Our Peru Decaf is processed using the Swiss Water Process — a 100% chemical-free decaffeination method that uses pure water and a proprietary carbon filter to remove caffeine while preserving the full flavor integrity of the green bean. The result is a decaf that tastes like great coffee, not a compromise.

Character

Peru Decaf delivers everything that makes high-altitude Andean arabica exceptional — floral brightness, clean fruit, and natural sweetness — without a single milligram of caffeine. The cup opens with a delicate jasmine and lemon note that carries through a clean, tea-like body, before settling into the warm, rounded sweetness of peach and honey. Berry complexity emerges as the cup cools, and a soft chocolate finish lingers long and cleanly — a profile that rewards slow sipping at any hour of the day.

What makes this decaf genuinely surprising is its structural clarity. Swiss Water processing preserves the bright acidity and layered fruit character that define great Peruvian specialty coffee, and the high-altitude growing conditions ensure the bean has the density and complexity to withstand decaffeination without losing its essential character. This is not a flat, one-note decaf — it is a fully realized, expressive cup that happens to let you sleep at night.

The organic cultivation practices common across Peru's Andean cooperatives add another dimension of quality. Without synthetic inputs, the coffee develops more slowly and more naturally, and the flavors reflect the purity of the highland environment in which it was grown.

Why Peru Decaf

Peru Decaf is for the coffee lover who refuses to compromise. For drinkers who want all the complexity, sweetness, and brightness of great single-origin arabica — without the caffeine — this is the answer. Grown at altitude by Andean smallholders, processed without chemicals by the Swiss Water method, and sourced from one of South America's most exciting emerging specialty regions, it delivers a cup that stands on its own merits in any company. Whether enjoyed as an afternoon pour-over or an evening French press, Peru Decaf is proof that decaf can be, simply, great coffee.
