A Tradewinds Story

The Wind That Carries It
A Tradewinds Story

Nobody agrees on exactly where great coffee comes from.
Some say it's the altitude. The thin air of an Ethiopian hillside at dawn, where the
temperature drops just enough overnight to slow the cherry's ripening and concentrate
something extraordinary inside. Others say it's the water. The mineral softness of A
Colombian mountain stream feeds roots that have been growing in the same red clay
soil for a hundred years.

But the people who really know the farmers, the pickers, the ones whose hands are
permanently stained the deep burgundy of ripe coffee cherries, they'll tell you
something different.

It's the wind, they say.

The wind that carries the seeds. The wind that dries the harvest on raised beds under
open sky. The wind that has been moving across oceans and mountains and valleys
since long before anyone thought to roast a bean and call it morning.
Tradewinds Coffee & Tea was built on that idea.

Not just that great coffee and tea exist in the world, they clearly do, in extraordinary
abundance, but that the distance between a remote farm on the other side of the planet and your kitchen table is smaller than they seem. That is the same wind that rustled
through a tea garden in the misty highlands of Darjeeling this morning, can, with a little
care and intention, find its way into your cup by the end of the week.
We didn't set out to build a big company.

We set out to close that distance.

We work with small farms. Family operations, most of them. Places where the farmer
knows every row by name, and the harvest is measured not in tons but in something
closer to pride. We talk to them directly. We learn their process, the decisions they make
make about when to pick, how to dry, and how long to rest the bean before it ships
because those decisions are the difference between a cup that's merely good and one that
that stops you mid-sip and makes you look out the window for a moment without quite
knowing why.

When we find something worth sharing, we bring it to you. Roasted fresh. Packed
carefully. Sent on its way across whatever distance lies between us.
Just like it always has been.

Just like the wind.
